There’s always a reason to wait – the lighting isn’t right, you don’t feel prepared, or you’re unsure if what you create will be good enough.
But here’s the truth: waiting for perfection stops us from starting altogether. That’s why my focus for 2025 is simple. Start, embrace imperfection, and figure it out as I go.
This year, I’m challenging myself to show up consistently, whether it’s for my creative projects, my new Social Media journey, or the goals I’ve set for my personal growth. Here’s how I’m approaching 2025 and why it’s okay to start messy.
I’ve always been someone who plans. I love lists, vision boards, and thinking through every detail. But in doing so, I often get caught in the trap of overthinking. “What if it’s not good enough?” “What if no one cares?” “What if I fail?” Sound familiar?
What Does it Mean to Let Go of Perfection?
Perfectionism can feel like a comfort zone, a way to control the outcome of what we do. But it’s often just fear in disguise; the fear of failing, of being judged, or of not being good enough. For years, I’ve let that fear hold me back, waiting for the “perfect time” to begin sharing my creative projects. But 2025 is the year I let go of perfection and focus on simply starting.
Letting go of perfection doesn’t mean you stop caring; it means recognising that progress matters more than having everything just right. Whether it’s starting a blog, creating content, or pursuing a passion project, the first step is what counts.
Why I’m Starting with Social Media This Year
One of the ways I’m embracing this mindset is by starting something I’ve wanted to do for years: posting regularly on Social Media platforms; That’s YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. It’s a space I’ve always been curious about but was too nervous to fully commit to.
This year, I’m making it a priority to create weekly videos, even if they’re not perfect. My first video is super short, not even 6 minutes long! It’s all about setting my goals for 2025 and sharing how I plan to balance creativity, community, and growth. It’s definitely exciting and nerve-wracking, but I know it’s the right step forward.
Here’s the thing: there will never be a perfect time to start. Whether you’re beginning a new project, exploring a hobby, or sharing your goals publicly, the first step is often the hardest. For me, creating my first YouTube video this year is a big leap into the unknown, but it feels like the right time to stop waiting and just begin.
I’ll be posting a video every Wednesday (fingers crossed!) and sharing more of my creative process, personal growth, and mindful living journey. It’s a mix of exciting and terrifying, but I’m so ready to dive in.

My Focus Areas for 2025
Defining goals doesn’t mean I have everything figured out. Instead, it’s about identifying what’s most important to me and using that as a guide throughout the year. Here are the three areas I’m prioritising in 2025:
Creating Consistently
Creativity has always been a big part of who I am. Whether it’s writing blogs, making videos, or crafting art for my room, I want to show up every day and keep that part of me alive. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but it does need to feel authentic. This year, I’m letting go of the pressure to create perfectly and instead embracing the process, even when it’s messy.
Building Community
Last year, I started a small meetup group called Midweek Mingle (read my blog on this here!) for women in their 20s. It’s been a rewarding experience, and I’ve already made some wonderful friends through it. In 2025, I want to continue building connections online and offline. Sharing my journey and learning from others is something I’m really excited about.
Leaning Into Growth
Growth can look like so many things; learning a new skill, trying something outside your comfort zone, or just making small changes to improve your day-to-day life. For me, this means tackling things I’ve been putting off, like studying French or learning how to make sourdough bread. It’s about curiosity and stepping into new experiences with an open mind.
These little moments of discomfort are where I see the most meaningful progress.
My Vision Board
One of the tools I’m using to keep my goals in sight is a vision board. It serves as a visual reminder of the intentions I’ve set for the year. From affirmations to lifestyle inspirations, my vision board includes:
- Career milestones I’d like to achieve.
- Images of a balanced, creative lifestyle.
- Simple joys like time with friends and meal prepping.
I even made it my computer screensaver so I see it every day – a small but powerful way to stay focused on what’s important
I’ve also put together a a list of content ideas to keep me on track, knowing full well that plans might change – and that’s okay. Having a starting point reduces the decision fatigue that often comes with creating and helps me avoid the endless “what should I post today?” loop.
Letting Go of Perfection
At the heart of my 2025 goals is a simple mantra: progress over perfection. This year, I’m allowing myself to try, to stumble, and to figure things out as I go. It’s not about knowing exactly where I’m headed but about starting from where I am and staying open to the journey.
If this resonates with you, I’d encourage you to think about your own goals. What’s one thing you’ve been putting off because it doesn’t feel like the right time? Maybe 2025 is your year to stop waiting and just begin.
