Case Study

HOLM Clothing

One of the first activities we did on my university course was a timed content creation challenge, where we were put into groups of 6 and told to come up with a futuristic product, then create a customer persona, as well as two adverts – one 30 seconds long, and the other 1 minute.

We had to conceptualise and brand the entire idea, even coming up with a name. In my group, I was delegated project manager, and I thought the obvious place to start was with the product.

The first idea that was rasied was VR Dating, as this was quite sson after the metaverse started to gain a lot of media attention.

After some more discussion, we settled on the idea of activewear that could auto-regulate your temperature to provide the pefect level of comfort, no matter the activity.

It might not have been the most outlandish idea in the class – someone put a hotel on jupiter – but it was definitely very interesting!

And so, the idea progressed

We now needed a name. We bounced a few ideas around before we got to the finished product, as you can see in the picture of my notes.

It ended up being an amalgamation of “hot“, “cold“, and “warm”, resulting in “Holm

We knew we needed a name, and I already had an idea in my head about how i wanted these adverts to look.

So I drew up a brief story board and set people different tasks. I said I’d do the logo and the shorter of the two videos, and set different people tasks: hunting for good royalty free videos, working on the presentation, that included a persona and a summary, as well as the second 1-minute video.

Like I said, I had an image in mind; so I jotted down some key phrases I wanted to include in each video to keep it the messaging streamlined across each platform.

During this process we came up with “climate control” – but for the climate inside you? But that sounded a bit odd, so we changed it to “core control“, and we liked that so much we added it to the logo! So that’s the “CC” you can see there!

This included a song – “Run Boy Run” by Wolfkid, which I was able to find an instrumental version of that I was able to download. (I’d like to note that I don’t own the rights to this track, nor am I using it to promote a product, this was a purely educational activity).

With all this in mind, everyone started on their tasks.

Unfortunately, I can’t share the work put together by my peers, but I can share my own! I made a 30-second video and a logo, which you can see below.
